Tinkering fundamentals

PRESENTATION: SATURDAY – 22 April, 2023, 11:45 @ University of Applied Arts Vienna

Thought experiments often go back to a shift in known parameters: imagine to stop time! Imagine that the speed of light was only 30 km/h! But what happens if you make these shifted parameters the basis of your technical developments and implement them as functions in machines? Often this results in nonsense, but sometimes they also provide surprising insights and most unusual perspectives. What happens, for example, when you try to swap time and space? Let’s see!

Martin Reinhart, film historian, filmmaker and film technician, born 1967 in Vienna, lives and works in Vienna. He studied at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Co-founder of the company Indiecam, which was a pioneer of digital film and developed the CinemaDNG standard together with Adobe. His innovative works and films have been presented at numerous international exhibitions and festivals, including the “tx-transform” film technique developed by him.
